It’s almost that time! Have you gotten your tickets yet?
The second movie of the Hunger Games Series is about to hit theaters.
Catching Fire will arrive to the theaters on November 22, 2013.
If you are a huge book nerd like me I read the Hunger Games series many years ago and was so excited to hear that they were going to create movies based off of the books and in my opinion they have done a great job with the story so far. Not all film adaptations are as good as the books. You have your own imagination when it comes to reading a story. How the story plays out in your mind. Movies are different, they create the story for you rather than you creating it yourself.
If you are not familiar with the Hunger Games Trilogy you are missing out. It is a series of three books: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
The Hunger Games trilogy takes place in an unspecified future time, in the nation of Panem. The country consists of the wealthy Capitol, located in the Rocky Mountains with twelve (formerly thirteen) poorer districts ruled by the Capitol. As punishment for a past rebellion against the Capitol wherein twelve of the districts were defeated and the thirteenth purportedly destroyed, one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, between the ages of twelve and eighteen, are selected by lottery to participate in the “Hunger Games” on an annual basis. The Games are televised with the participants being forced to fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena where many bizarre things occur. The winning tribute and his/her home district is then rewarded with food and supplies. The purpose of the Hunger Games is to provide entertainment for the Capitol and to serve as a reminder to the Districts of the Capitol’s power and lack of remorse.
Not giving anything else away about the series just incase some of you have not seen the movie or read the books I will end it at that. So be sure to go read them, or if you are short on time, watch the first movie then go see the second.
Many fans will be filling up the theaters to see the movie on November 22. Will you be one of them? I know I will be..Just maybe not on the midnight release.
